George Bilikas

George Bilikas passed away on October 25th, 2019 in his 100th year, 15 years after his doctors said he was on his ‘way out’. His faith and his love of life took him down the slow and scenic route to the heavens.

Born in Evia Greece in 1920, he was an avid potter which turned into his life’s work.

He served his country in World War II.

At 38 he immigrated to Montreal were he married Theadora Pana.

George was the very proud father to 4 lucky sons; Predeceased by Evangelo, John (Debbie), Spiro (Isabelle) and Peter. Favorite Pappou to Nicole, Evan, Alexia, Julia, Sofia and Maxime.

He will be missed by his relatives in Greece and by the many friends who loved him and adopted him as their ‘Pappou’.

He attributes his long life to loving every moment, being in the ‘now’

and passionately enjoying meals surrounded by his family. The road was long with many bumps along the way but he tackled each with his charm and humor.

The family thanks the amazing staff at the Jewish General Hospital and the Manoir Cartierville.

Visitation will be held at the Centre Funeraire Cote des Neiges, 4525 Cotes- des Neiges on Monday Oct 28 from 2:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 and the funeral will be held on Tuesday Oct 29th in Laval at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 3780 chemin du Souvenir at 10:30 am (Visitation 9:30).

George Bilikas est décédé le 25 octobre 2019, à quelques mois de ses 100 ans, 15 années après que ses médecins lui aient annoncé qu'il était sur la voie de la «sortie». Sa foi et son amour de la vie l'ont amené sur la route lente et pittoresque qui mène au ciel.

Né à Evia en Grèce en 1920, il était un potier passionné.

Il a servi son pays pendant la Seconde Guerre Mondiale.

À 38 ans, il immigre à Montréal où il épouse Theadora Pana.

George était le très fier père de 4 fils: Prédécédé par Evangelo, John (Debbie), Spiro (Isabelle) et Peter ainsi que le Pappou préféré à Nicole, Evan, Alexia, Julia, Sofia et Maxime.

Il manquera à ses proches en Grèce et aux nombreux amis qui l’ont aimé et qui l’ont adopté comme «Pappou».

Il a attribué sa longue vie à aimer chaque instant, étant dans le «maintenant»

et appréciant passionnément ses repas entouré de sa famille. La route était longue, avec de nombreux chaos. Mais il s’est attaqué à chacun d’eux avec son charme et son humour.

La famille remercie le personnel exceptionnel de l'Hôpital Général Juif et du Manoir Cartierville.

Les visites auront lieu au Centre funéraire Côte des Neiges, 4525 Côtes-des-Neiges, le lundi 28 octobre de 14h à 17h et de 19h à 21h. Les funérailles auront lieu le mardi 29 octobre à Laval, Église orthodoxe grecque Saint-Nicolas, 3780 chemin du Souvenir à 10h30 (Visite dès 9h30).
