

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. George Mallouh on November 19, 2019 at the age of 90 years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Frances (Smyth), his son David (Elena Scalzo), his daughter Helen, and his beloved grandsons Anthony and Sasha. He was a very kind and loving family man.
He was preceded by his brothers Joseph and Edmond, his sister Marcelle (Joseph Tabet) and his nephew Nabil Tabet (Leila Haddad).
He will be missed by his much beloved sister-in-law Charlotte Mallouh, his nephews Raouf Mallouh and Nagy Tabet (Nelly Badra), his nieces Claudie Ayas(Raouf Ayas) and Nadia Tabet (Pierre Boisvert). He will also be missed by his brothers-in-law Patrick and Gordon Smyth and their families, the families of his diseased sister in law and brother in law, Eileen and Vaughn Smyth, as well as by his many cousins and other relations living in Canada, the US and in Lebanon.
Born in Egypt, the son of Naoum Mallouh and Marie Tajer, he graduated in Cairo in medicine, came to New York City to specialize in obstetrics and gynecology, and upon graduating, he came to Montreal to further his career. He practiced in Saskatoon for three years, and then returned to Montreal in 1968 where he practiced at the Reddy Memorial Hospital and at St. Mary’s Hospital. He was a member of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and was affiliated to McGill University in a teaching capacity. He was greatly devoted to his work, and he retired at the age of 89.
A heartfelt thanks to the doctors and staff of St. Mary’s Hospital for the excellent care he received during the last weeks of his life. Donations can be made in his memory to the foundation of St. Mary’s Hospital.
Visitations will take place on Sunday, December 1st, from 2:30 to 6:30 pm, followed by a funeral service in the chapel from 6:30 to 7:30 pm at:

Il laisse derrière lui son épouse Frances (Smyth) après 54 ans de vie commune, son fils David (Elena Scalzo), sa fille Helen, ses petits-enfants bien-aimés Anthony et Sasha. L'ont précédé vers le Seigneur, ses frères Joseph, Edmond et Marcelle, son neveu Nabil Tabet (Laila Haddad). Il manquera grandement à sa belle-sœur Charlotte Mallouh, ses neveux Raouf, Claudie Mallouh (Raouf Ayas), Nadia Tabet (Pierre Boisvert) et Nagy Tabet (Nelly Badra). Il manquera aussi grandement à ses beaux-frères Patrick et Gordon Smyth, ainsi que leurs familles et celles de sa belle-sœur Eileen et de son beau-frère Vaughan Smyth qui l’ont précédés, plusieurs cousins et leurs familles au Canada, aux États-Unis et au Liban.
Fils de Naoum Mallouh et Marie Tajer, né en Égypte, il avait étudié la médecine au Caire, puis complété sa spécialisation en obstétrique et gynécologie à New York. Venu par la suite à Montréal, il avait travaillé trois ans à Saskatoon puis revenu à Montréal en 1968 où il a pratiqué à l’hôpital Reddy Memorial puis à l’hôpital St-Mary’s. Il était membre du Collège Royal des médecins et chirurgiens du Canada, affilié à l’Université McGill et a enseigné à des générations de médecins. Dévoué à son travail, il a pris sa retraite à l’âge de 89 ans.
Un grand merci à l’équipe soignante de l’hôpital St-Mary’s qui l’a accompagné durant les dernières semaines de sa vie. Les dons à la Fondation de l’hôpital St-Mary’s à sa mémoire seront appréciés.
