Gloria Ann Lewis

October 9, 1938 - August 25, 2008

On a very special day on October 9th, 1938 on the Island of Jamaica, a beautiful baby girl, Gloria Ann Lewis ,was born to Isaac and Hilda Lewis, the 9th of their 10 children.

God had chosen these two people to be her earthly parents and they accepted the commission.

She was a joyful child who brought happiness to her parents and siblings. In her early years she attended Race Course Primary School, Clarendon, where she made many friends, many of whom she still have contact.

Leaving here she went to West Indies College, Mandeville, Jamaica, where she spent two years and then went on to High School at Clarendon College, Chapleton, Jamaica. Here she did the GCE's exams - "O'Levels, A'Levels".

After this she taught in the Cayman Islands for a couple of years and then return to Jamaica where she worked in the Medical Records Department at the University College of the West Indies for a number of years.

She migrated to Canada in 1964 and attended McGill University in Montreal and did a Bachelor of Science degree.

After this, she went to work at St. Mary's Hospital, Montreal, in the Medical Records Department until she took an early retirement in 1994.

She has been busy and active in her church - St. Andrew and St. Paul Presbyterian Church.

She had been particularly busy in the last few years being a friend and care giver to her friend and colleague, Dr. Patrick Madore, in his later years.

Her death was very sudden and a shock to her family and friends.

We mourn her loss but happy to know she is with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

She is survived by her sisters, Cassie, Joyce, Carmen and Mavis, Bloss and Clive, (Niece and Nephew) and many other Nieces and Nephews and Cousins.

Although Gloria is no longer with us her love will live on.

Those we love are never really lost to us; we feel them in so many special ways through friends they always cared about and dreams they left behind, in beauty that they added to our days - in words of wisdom we still carry with us and memories that never will be gone.
