Born and raised in London, England, Ken was a veteran of the RAF. Following the war, Ken first worked in the civil service and then came to Montreal with his wife, young son and his wife's family. He was a loyal Chelsea FC supporter and followed the football matches with his son Gordie on television. He was also deeply attached to the Scottish culture and traditions of his wife, Jean Jack (Sandy), whom he married in Glasgow in 1945. He worked as a respected and meticulous executive in securities, finance, and investments for more than 35 years with Bell Canada, until retiring in 1984. Ken was predeceased by his wife Jean (1952) and son Gordon (2020). He was a faithful Christian who served as an Elder and Trustee in his church, and a member of the Men's Breakfasters' Club supporting community projects. He truly loved music and sang tenor in his Presbyterian church choirs in Verdun and NDG. We wish to thank the health professionals at the Royal Victoria Hospital for their care of Ken at the end of his life. We are especially grateful to Patricia Smith of the St. Andrew's Foundation for her help following Gordie's sudden death July 9.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ken and Gordie may be made to the St. Andrew's Presbyterian Home Foundation. A memorial celebrating Ken's life will be held at a later date in the church he loved and served for many years, Kensington Presbyterian Church in NDG. A kind and gentle soul,
his memory lives on in our hearts.
