Leung Wai Lam

Born in China in 1938, Leung Wai lived a life defined by resilience, quiet strength, and an unwavering devotion to his family. As a young man in Hong Kong, he served his community with brave dedication as both a police officer and a firefighter. In 1969, seeking new opportunities and a bright future, he made the courageous journey to Canada, settling in Montreal—the city he would call home for the rest of his life.

In Montreal, Leung Wai built a rich life through hard work and perseverance, spending many years working in restaurant kitchens. He brought an endless curiosity to life, always eager to try new things - from practicing calligraphy and making pizza to teaching himself how to play music. He was a man of joyous spirit with a lifelong passion for soccer and the quiet strategy of Chinese chess. Above all, his heart belonged to his family. Alongside his devoted wife of 55 years, Sui Chun, he built a home grounded in warmth, generosity, care and love, proudly raising their two daughters.

His legacy of love lives on through his cherished family. Leung Wai is survived by his devoted wife, Sui Chun Lam; his loving daughters, Ivy (Adam) and Holly (Derek); and his adoring grandsons, Oliver and Clifford, who brought immense joy to his later years.

A service to honour and celebrate Leung Wai’s life will be held on September 6, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at:
