Louis F. Darling

With deep love and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Louis Darling, who left us peacefully on August 19, 2026, at the age of 92.

Louis was a man known for his great sense of humour, his gentle spirit, and the steady kindness he showed to everyone around him. Everyone who met him loved him — he had a way of connecting with people instantly. He was a realist, someone who spoke the truth plainly, firm but fair, and sometimes without much of a filter, which only made his humour sharper and his presence more memorable. He had a remarkable ability to make people laugh — sometimes with a quick joke, sometimes with a subtle smile that said everything without a word. His humour brought comfort, connection, and light to the lives of those who knew him.

He was also a lifelong sports lover, and nothing brought him more joy than cheering on his Montreal Canadiens. Whether celebrating a big win or shaking his head at a tough loss, he followed his team with unwavering loyalty and genuine passion. Hockey nights were more than games — they were moments he shared with family, filled with laughter, commentary, and the excitement he carried right to the final buzzer.

Born on April 22, 1934, Louis was born and raised in Montreal, where his strong sense of identity and pride in his hometown first took shape. He served in the Navy for about ten years, carrying discipline, resilience, and a deep respect for service throughout his life. After his time in the Navy, he lived in Toronto for over 25 years, building a life, raising his family, and creating memories that would stay with him forever.

Eventually, he returned to his roots in Montreal, choosing to stay in the place that always felt most like home. Louis lived a life rooted in love, loyalty, and simple joys. He valued family above all else and was a devoted husband and father.

Louis is survived by his wife Gina, his daughter Michelle Darling, his son Robert Darling, and his beloved grandchildren: Krista Darling, Kali Darling, Kordal Darling, Jaren Wicinski, Jaiden Wicinski and Brayden Darling. He is also lovingly remembered by his six great grandchildren, who brought him endless joy and pride.

Together, they will forever carry his laughter, wisdom, and love in their hearts..
