Louise Treich

Louise Treich (born February 24 1949) passed away late evening on September 10, 2026 after a brief stay at the Glen hospital, less than a kilometer from where she began her independent adult life on Claremont in the 1970s. Born in Montreal as the last of six children to Carmel Loreto and radio personality Andre Treich, she worked for a number of clothing manufacturers including Jean Junction, which helped her express her lifelong attraction to style, beauty, elegance.

In later years she was a tireless volunteer at Lachine Hospital, Camile Lefèvre, l’Entraide and Meals on Wheels where coworkers appreciated her quick wit, kindness and creativity. She came alive when she could be of service, and when she was interacting with others, be it the cashier, bus driver, and neighbors who remember her as a motherly, humorous figure who always had a ready smile awaiting.

Her firm sense of justice and fairness and her interest to help others has been an inspiration to those who knew her - as well as the small things like her famous talent for wrapping well-timed gifts and sending on-target links.

She is survived and remembered by her elder sister and soulmate Michelle Richards (aka Kokker, neé Treich), nieces and nephews, best friend Claudia, and numerous friends and former colleagues.

In lieu of flowers, perhaps notice something beautiful, make someone laugh, send someone an unexpectedly perfect link, or do one small kindness without being asked. Louise had a particular appreciation for such things.
