1928 – 2021
It is with profound sadness that the family of Mathilde (Tilly) Wojciechowski (née van de Bennet) announces her passing on February 18, 2021 in Montreal. She passed away peacefully at the venerable age of 92.
Born in Holland, she was the daughter of the late Joseph van de Bennet and of the late Maria Jeanne Mathilde Claessens. Mathilde (Tilly) was predeceased by her siblings Mary, Joseph, Frank and Elaine.
Beloved wife of 59 years of Edmund Wojciechowski, beloved mother of Diana and beloved mother-in-law of Kevin Combe. She will be deeply missed by family, Rose Combe and James Combe, Tom and Anna Treschak; Godlieve Bennet (children Jennifer, Joan, Deborah, Geoffrey, Allison and families), Emily Bennet (children Jeffrey, Mark, Joey and families), the late Elaine O’Leary (children Elizabeth, Patrick, Daniel, Liam, Rory and families) and Irene Sampson (children Martin and Philip and families), and a large number of very dear friends she met over the years, especially Terry and Anne-Marie, with whom she was friends for almost 70 years.
Family and friends are invited to pay their condolences at the Our Lady of Fatima church, 875 Blvd. Marcel-Laurin, Saint-Laurent, QC H4M 2M8, starting at 10:15am on Wednesday, February 24th, 2021. Funeral mass will be held at 11am. We kindly ask that social distancing measures are followed and that all guests wear a mask at all times.
To honour her memory, a donation may be made to the Jewish General Hospital Foundation and/or a mass read at Our Lady of Fatima parish or church of your choice.
The family would like to thank Dr Jeffrey Danson, Elena, Maureen and Soula; Dr Sheppard, Dr Chang, and the nursing staff that offered exceptional healthcare to our wife and mother. Thank you also to Father Jason Piper for accompanying us in these difficult times.
Internment will be held at the Notre-Dame-des-Neiges cemetery at a later date.
