Norman was the 2nd of 5 children born to Clifford Bowman and Grace Rachel [nee Lane] Reid of the Town of Mount Royal/Montreal West. Some would describe him as quiet, reserved and even shy but with a competitive streak on the side. While in RCAF 401 Squadron he met his devoted wife, Helen Viau. A loyal family man, Norman enjoyed a distinguished 38 year flying career with TCA/Air Canada. Although he dabbled with fixing cars, motorcycles, pretty much anything with a motor; he loved dogs, golf, curling, horse races, and even boxing! Norman could watch golf and curling on television, all day. He loved spending time at the cottage in the Eastern Townships and was most pleased when family members used and enjoyed it as well.
In his younger years, Norman served his church, RCAF 401 Squadron, Lakeshore Civitan Club as well as actively serving on the Council with the Town of Montreal West. He loved Christmas and Easter family gatherings which included great feasts to which Norman really enjoyed.
