2015 à St-Sauveur où elle a été très heureuse !

96 ans  à St-Sauveur ! Son dessert préféré et aussi celui de Jack !

Nous sommes attristés par le décès de Pauline.
Elle voulait se rendre à 100 ans et elle l’a fait. 
Elle avait une joie de vivre et adorait jouer aux cartes. Que de beaux souvenirs de ces journées à St-Sauveur où nous nous sommes tant amusés.

Repose en paix Pauline avec ton Jack que tu aimais tant !
Veille sur ceux qui sont chers à ton cœur.

July 12th.  Exception to the McDonald’s rule !! Craving for a “La Belle Province” hotdog and french fries!!! Délicieux !!!

During the final two months of Pauline’s life, Pierre and I were given the privilege of spending precious time by her side.

Until then, she had remained remarkably independent, living in her own apartment and enjoying life on her own terms well into her 100th year. She was highly regarded in our apartment building.  Through countless conversations, shared meals and many laughs, we came to know Pauline on a much deeper level. She taught us invaluable lessons about resilience, dignity, gratitude and finding joy in life’s simple pleasures. She shared and experienced with us the secret of her longevity… an egg McMuffin and French fries every week  day at McDonald’s!!!

Ce fut un grand privilège de l’accompagner lorsqu’elle a eu besoin de nous. Son absence nous attriste profondément, cependant  nous garderons toujours une immense reconnaissance d’avoir pu partager ces derniers moments avec elle. 

Pauline occupera toujours une place toute spéciale dans nos cœurs.

J’ai attendu pour essayer de trouver les bons mots pour vous dévoiler mon cœur. 
Je vous envoie une colombe au ciel avec un paquet sur ses ailes. 
Comme à chaque carte que vous avez reçues de moi au fil des années…
En l’ouvrant vous y trouverez un million de baisers enveloppés dans un million de tendresses et de câlins….pour vous dire à quel point vous me manquez déjà.
Je vous garde pour toujours dans mon cœur jusqu’à ce qu’on se revoit à nouveau.

Pauline, Alex and I feel deeply privileged to have spent the last two months with you. It was a precious time of rekindling our relationship when you needed us most. We reconnected on such a deep level, sharing honest conversations as you opened up about your past. Every time we met, your first thought was always of the family—asking caring questions about the kids and grandkids. We shared so many laughs and meals, and loved connecting with your friends. Whether in the hospital or back at your apartment—where you were always so eager for us to return together—we cherished every moment of your company. You asked us to honor your wishes, and we carried them out with love. We hope with all our hearts that you are now at peace.  You will always be in our hearts.

As I won’t be able to eulogize my stepmom at a memorial, I’m sharing some of what I might have said about her here. 

Pauline had a zest for life that I always felt would be hard to beat. While she loved the Laurentian mountains country home she and my dad shared, she always said she was really a city girl at heart and treasured the fact that she lived independently in her apartment until her last. 

She believed being active and engaged was the key to her longevity so every  morning, regardless of the weather, she left her downtown home, stylishly dressed, for her daily outings; walking or taking the bus or metro to her favorite spots in the city. She loved reading novels, her European magazines, followed current events on TV and tried never to miss her favorite Sunday American football games. She especially loved her travels with my dad  during their many years together and remained in touch with many of the friends they had made along the way. 

I caught their travel bug early on and she was always encouraging my husband and I to travel as much as we could while we could as they had. She loved when we visited her wherever we were in town, sharing her latest outings and favorite novels. 

During our weekly calls, she updated me on which friends she had spoken with or seen and was always asking about us, our children and grandson eager to know that we were doing well and keeping active. 

Pauline was in my life since I was a little girl and there are too many special moments and stories to share here. I’ll treasure many of them, and her advice and council but especially her deep affection for me, my husband Danny and her grandchildren, Rachel and Zac. May her memory be for a blessing.

Pauline malgré tout je t aime et t aimerai pour toujours. J espère que tu trouveras la paix.
