Robert (Bob) passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 15th at the age of ninety-eight. He was predeceased by his loving wife Audrey Elizabeth Dance and beloved son Peter John as well as by his two brothers and two sisters. He leaves his daughter Deborah, dear son-in-law Robert Dupuis, his granddaughter Katherine Lise, whom he referred to as his belle-fille (David Del Grande) and great-grandchildren Adelaide and Alexander.
Robert retired from SNC-Lavalin (AtkinsRéalis) in 1995 as a piping engineer. His career in the areas of petrochemical, hydroelectric power and nuclear generating plants sent him to many parts of the world. But his favourite places remained Montreal, which was his birthplace, and Provincetown, Cape Cod.
After Audrey passed in 2010, Robert spent ten good years living at the Vista Residence in NDG. A serious medical issue acquired from Covid resulted in his move to the Centre d’hébergement de Saint-Henri in 2022. The team on the third floor cared for him with great kindness and dignity. We are so grateful for the respectful relationships he developed with the staff there. Our deepest gratitude goes to his caregiver Maria Amaro, who has been such a support for Robert and our family. Maria’s love and devotion brought him companionship and much joy during the last decade of his life.
Robert was a quiet man with a perpetually positive outlook and a good sense of humour which will be missed.
A funeral mass will be celebrated to commemorate Robert’s life in the chapel at the Centre Funéraire Côte-des-Neiges at 11:00 am on Friday, October 23rd. His family will receive condolences an hour before. A reception will follow.
