OBITUARY

Sarah McAllister Sibthorpe

26 December, 1934 – 1 February, 2025
IN THE CARE OF

Résidences funéraires Collins Clarke MacGillivray White Funeral Homes

We are saddened to announce the passing of Sarah McAllister (Sibthorpe), 90 years old, married to the late Ronald Sibthorpe (1936-2017), devoted Mother of Ronald (Sharon Jefferson), Mark (Trish Kirkland), Barbara (Robert Pierce), Robert (Lesley Pahl), and Michael (Sue Piercey), proud Grandmother of nineteen grandchildren, Great-Grandmother of three, and impactful member of the MacDonald High School community, on Saturday, February 1st, 2025.

Born and raised in Kilmarnock, Scotland, Sarah was the youngest of nine siblings. Sarah moved to Montreal in 1954, where she met her late husband and married him in 1962.

Her greatest joy was her family, and she was incredibly proud of all of us. But her kindness extended far beyond our home.

At Mac High, our Mom ran the cafeteria for almost two decades in the 80s and 90s. Sarah did more than serve meals—she made sure every student felt cared for, safe, and seen. There were many kids who were in need, who she recognized and quietly ensured they were fed every day. Some people change the world in big, noticeable ways. Others do it through small, quiet moments—checking in, offering a smile, sharing a coffee, making sure no one was forgotten and everyone felt seen. That was our Mom.

Her home was a safe place for many of us growing up. With an open door where all were welcome – and friends became family. Our Mom believed small gestures matter. Our Mother taught us that kindness does not have to be grand to be meaningful.

While we will miss her deeply, we know she is now reunited with Ron, her late husband, (happily married for over 55 years). I imagine them sharing a scotch, going to garage sales, and trying their luck at the slot machines, just like old times. And maybe, just maybe, they're off on another adventure, cruising the open roads in their RV, making new memories to tell when we see them again.

A special thank you for the compassionate care she received from the staff at Chateau Dollard and Lasalle Hospital

Visitation at 13:00 followed by Chapel service at 14:00 on Friday February 28th, at The Church of Saint-John the Babtist, 233 Saint-Claire ave., Pointe-Claire, Quebec H9S 4E3
