Suzanne Mailas passed away on June 10, 2024 after a short but ferocious battle with cancer.
She was an employee of IBM Canada for many years, mostly in Toronto.
She returned to her Montreal home after retirement, residing in Westmount. Sue was not only really smart and well- read, she had the ability to self-learn all sorts of valuable skills: she taught herself to embroider, to knit, to sew, to decoupage, to create beautiful gardens and she even reupholstered her sofa by herself. She was a horrible driver, a wonderful, intuitive cook, a voracious reader and took great pride in making a beautiful home.
She was a great conversationalist, a very snappy dresser who never met an accessory she didn’t love and was a lot of fun to be around. Maybe more than anything, she really knew the value of a dollar, which allowed her to live a comfortable, worry-free life. Suzanne leaves behind her sister, Rosemary and brother-in-law Ian Stronach, her brother Richard and sister-in-law Corinne Van Egmond, her nieces Jessica Mailas ( Marc Darroch) and Elizabeth Stronach (John Stronach), her nephew Tommy Stronach and her wee great niece, Sienna Stronach, along with some wonderful longtime friends. We loved her, we were lucky to have her and we will miss her terribly.
In her final days, Sue was tenderly taken care of by the kind nurses and staff of the Maison St. Raphael (maisonstraphael.org); donations in her name would be truly appreciated.
