It is with profound sadness that the family of William Baker, aged 82, of Otterburn Park, Quebec, announces his passing on June 14, 2024, a little over 2 years after the passing of his much beloved wife, Ghyslaine Baker (Perron).
Born in Montreal, William demonstrated remarkable determination, putting himself through university while working full-time. William retired from IBM after having worked there for 27 years. After IBM, William started his own consulting company. He then worked for Cognicase and CGI. William finally retired at the age of 71. He continued to enjoy programming, making family videos as well as music and travel compilations.
William was an extremely devoted father and husband – always putting family first. A lifelong learner, he had a passion for music, science and sports. He also managed the Otterburn Park Badminton Club for almost 3 decades, sharing his love for the sport with the community.
William is survived by his sons Karl, Patrick and Daniel, as well as his four grandchildren. He will be deeply missed – more than can be expressed in words.
For those who wish, contributions may be made in William’s name to your local Animal Shelter or to the CHUM: https://fondationduchum.com/en/ways-to-give/.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30am on July 15th at the Chapel of the Centre funéraire Côte-Des-Neiges (4525 Ch. de la Côte-des-Neiges Montréal QC, Montréal QC H3V1E7).
