Dorothy “Dottie” Julia Williams born in the Bronx, NY but moved as a youngster to Verplanck, NY, passed away on Friday, May 26, 2017 at the age of 75. Dorothy was born to Harry and Julia Loeber on Sept 8, 1941. She Graduated from Hendrick Hudson High School and from Grasslands nursing program where she earned her LPN. Dorothy fell in love and married her childhood neighbor, Arthur “Dickie” Williams. Dorothy worked for Peekskill Community Hospital, until she opened a business with her husband, Eastern Range Service in Peekskill, NY, where they sold and repaired appliances until he became paralyzed. Dorothy was the sole caregiver to Dickie until his passing in 2006.
Dottie gave to her community by fundraising for cancer, lupus, VHL and many more charities. She also gave her time putting dances, BBQ's and other activities together for the developmentally disabled. She was an avid gardener. She loved to travel and loved her home which became a “home” to many throughout the years. She was a "Mom" to everyone who came across her path.
Dorothy dedicated her life to her three daughters Katherine Williams, Flora Beyer (Alan), Nancy Williams (Lisle Ludwig), and Jerome Diamond whom she considered to be her "son". She adored her granddaughters Abigale, Gabrielle, and Amanda Beyer and great granddaughter Savannah Avila-Beyer. She also leaves behind, brother Harry Loeber (Mary), sister in law Betty Loeber, niece and nephew, RJ Loeber and Kristine Perrault and numerous other sister and brother in laws and nieces and nephews. Dottie also leaves behind her cherished dog Louie. In addition to her beloved husband Dickie, Dorothy was also predeceased by her brother Edward Loeber.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 29, 2017 from 6-9PM at Edward F. Carter Funeral Home, 170 Kings Ferry Rd., Montrose, NY 10548. A graveside service will be held on Tues, May 30th. Family and friends should gather at 10AM at Edward F. Carter Funeral Home for prayers before going in procession to Hillside Cemetery.
