Joseph is the true definition of a fighter. Even with the odds stacked against him from day 1, he faced each day with indescribable bravery. Despite the challenges from his disability, he never let anything get in the way of living his life to the absolute fullest - a lesson that many of us never truly learn. Joseph was a lot of things for many people throughout his lifetime - a friend to laugh with, a shoulder to cry on, a voice of reason. He was the type of person you could just talk for hours with. He was bright, witty, and had the most amazing sense of humor. I’ve never seen anyone around Joseph not laughing or smiling. His presence alone made people happy. His smile was contagious and the sound of his laughter could warm anyone’s heart.
What was most admirable about Joseph was his outlook on life. His spirit was unbreakable. He never let anything hold him back. He traveled the country, met people from all over the world, and made lasting memories along the way. He never let fear or “what if” from stopping him from living his dream. He taught us all that it doesn’t matter what cards your dealt in life- what matters is how you play the hand. He made every single second of his life count.
While Joseph’s passing leaves us all with an ache in our hearts, let us take this opportunity to gather together and reflect on how lucky we were to have him. How lucky we were to love such a special person. And even though his time with us was far too short, we will continue to celebrate his life and keep him alive in spirit forever.
Joseph loved to have fun so that’s what we are going to do. Immediately following the services all are asked to please come celebrate Joseph’s life at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel at 155 Highland Ave in Verplanck.
