With reverence, praise, and thanksgiving to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, we honor and celebrate the life of Apostle Alicia Darsel Robinson Norton, a powerful woman of faith, a devoted wife and loving mother, a gifted singer, songwriter, author, and a vessel who impacted countless lives through love, ministry, music, and service.
Alicia Darsel Robinson Norton was born on September 18, 1962, in Detroit, Michigan, to her beloved mother, Lucille Nimox. She was the youngest of two children, raised alongside her brother, Lacey Robinson. From the beginning, Alicia’s life reflected purpose and divine assignment.
In 1981, Alicia met Garland Jr. Norton, a United States Marine from Louisiana and on October 19, 1984, they joined together in marriage. In 1985, they relocated to California, where Alicia continued building a life centered on faith, family, and purpose. Alicia was blessed with three children, Coletha Renee, Candice Alise, and her only son, Garland J., II. Alicia loved deeply, and she made it clear that God was first in her life the her children and family. Her love, actions, and sacrifices were evident in everything she did.
In 2004, Alicia released her first gospel album, It’s My Time, and she also authored her first book, Girlfriend Can We Talk, based on her life, which touched many. Alicia is also the founder of her outreach ministry, Girlfriend Can We Talk (established in 2004), a healing ministry focused on improving lives and providing counseling and support for women, young adults, teens, children, and men who have been hurt and abused.
In 2000, Alicia, and her beloved husband, Sr. Pastor Garland Norton, founded House of Prayer Deliverance Center International, a healing and deliverance ministry committed to restoration, prayer, and spiritual growth. With the help of our Almighty God, she walked in and operated with power, dominion, and authority as she ministered, prophesied, prayed, counseled, assisted, and fought for countless souls.
Alicia committed her life to God, walked in obedience, and honored the Lord in everything she did. God was the center of her life. Operating in the five-fold ministry, Alicia passed every test given, made sure all things were done in truth, decency, and order, and allowed God to use her in ways that would be difficult for the average person to comprehend. She lived by the conviction: If you take care of God’s business, He will take care of yours.
She leaves to cherish her memory her mother, Lucille Nimox; her loving husband, Garland Jr. Norton; her beloved children, Coletha Renee Norton, Candice Alise Norton, and Garland J. Norton II and wife Jasmine Joy Norton and bonus daughter Satira Lewis; along with her cherished grandchildren, Marissea Brenae A. Norton and Noa-Matai Norton; her brother, Lacey Robinson; her niece, Champale Robinson; her nephew, Chamon Robinson; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, spiritual sons and daughters, and loved friends.
Alicia will truly be missed in physical form and will continue to be loved by her family, loved ones, and all she has touched, taught, and inspired around the world. With everything she has done and accomplished, she did it wholeheartedly, all while remaining a dedicated woman of God, wife, mother, daughter, sister, leader, and friend. Her work, strength, love, and legacy speak volumes. Her spirit lives on within us. She will always be our heartbeat, our rock, our strength, and the light in our lives. And as she would say:
“Don’t cry for me! Rejoice because I am where I want to be, with my Heavenly Father! You just make sure you make it here.”
“I’m just a nobody, trying to tell everybody about somebody who can save anybody!”
“Who can do it? God can. What can He do? Anything. When can He do it? Right now.”
