She was born on October 21, 1932 in Pitman, NJ to Hazel and Ralph Doan. She grew up in Pitman. She resided in Moreno Valley, CA for 17 years. She previously lived in Philadelphia and Feasterville, PA; and Lake Worth and West Palm Beach, FL.
In February 1948, she met the love of her life, John Wesley (Jack). They were engaged in April of 1948 and married on July 3, 1948 in Elkton, Maryland. Helen was 15 years old. They were married for 50 years when Jack passed away.
Helen had a special love for children and worked for several years in daycare and preschool, and volunteered in her daughter-in-law's class. She also worked retail and proofreading for a computer company.
In addition to her parents, Helen was predeceased by her husband, Jack in 1999, and her sister Doris Jean in 2020. She is survived by her daughters, Helen Jean (Wesley) Essigman (Edward), Sue (Wesley) Kellett (Bruce); and son, John Wesley Jr. (Tanya), sister, Sarah Marjorie McMaster and brother, George Robert Doan (Jane). She had seven granddaughters, 13 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Helen was an avid reader, loved scrapbooking, crocheting, crafting, shopping, trying new recipes, and doing makeovers in the home. She had the most generous and beautiful heart. She will surely be missed by all who knew and loved her.
