Joe Ward, age 76, passed away peacefully on November 15, 2024. Born on May 25, 1948, to Tyranda Addrell Ward Sr. and Minnie Mae McClendon, Joe began his life in Mississippi, where he was deeply rooted in family and tradition.

Joe proudly served his country in Vietnam, demonstrating courage and dedication that shaped the man he became. Upon returning home, he found his calling as a skilled machinist, where his hard work and precision made a lasting impact.

Joe shared many meaningful years with Carrie Ward (née Booker), with whom he built a life full of laughter and countless memories.

Joe is survived by his children: Joe Jackson (Deborah Jackson) and their children Joe and Kylee Jackson, Qiana Hyre (Steve Hyre) and their children Camdon Livingston and Vance Hyre, Brook Livingston (Matthew Livingston), Angela Gaines (Virgil Gaines) and their children Michael Ortiz and Naomi Gaines, and Anthony Ward (Shay Ward) and their family.

He is also survived by his siblings: Bertiel McDaniel (Milton “Buddy” McDaniel), Carolyn Williams (Ron Williams), Deborah Beasley (James Beasley Jr.), Tyranda Addrell Ward Jr., and April Ward. Joe was preceded in death by his sibling Eddie Lee Allen and Dillon Simmons, who was Carolyn’s first husband.

Joe was a beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews, who will forever cherish his wisdom, kindness, and infectious love of life.

A passionate outdoorsman, Joe loved hunting and spending time in nature. He also had a lifelong passion for fishing, finding peace and joy on the water. When he wasn’t outdoors, Joe could be found cheering on his favorite team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, sharing his enthusiasm for the game with friends and family.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Westshore Boarding Care and Dignity Hospice for their compassionate care during Joe’s final days.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. at Miller-Jones Mortuary and Crematory, with the burial service and military honors immediately following at Riverside National Cemetery.

Joe’s legacy lives on through his family, friends, and the many lives he touched. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages acts of kindness or donations to causes close to Joe’s heart in his memory.

Joe Ward will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
