Jullian Lawrence Marquis Hughes, lovingly known as Juju Bear, was born on July 16, 1990, in Los Angeles, California, at Martin Luther King Hospital. On December 9, 2025, at the age of 35, Jullian peacefully entered eternal rest.
Jullian was a cherished son, grandson, brother, husband, and friend. He was known for his strong work ethic, unwavering loyalty, and generous heart. He was the first person we would call—whether we needed someone to stand with us, share a laugh, enjoy a moment together, or lift our spirits with his humor. His warmth, positivity, and joyful presence left a lasting impression on all who were blessed to know him.
From a young age, Jullian attended Victory Worship Center, where he was baptized at the age of 10 and filled with the Holy Ghost. His faith was an important part of his life. He loved video games, music, and spending time with his nieces and nephews, whom he adored deeply. Though rhythm was not his strength, he loved to dance and never failed to bring smiles to those around him. A good cup of coffee in the morning was one of his simple pleasures, and he embraced life in his own unique way.
Jullian had a special love for his three fur babies, who brought him great comfort and companionship. A big kid at heart, he enjoyed bowling, camping, and trips to the arcade. He also cherished quiet moments at home, watching cooking shows, enjoying a good movie, and finding peace in the comfort of familiar surroundings.
He loved taking selfies—especially when he was dressed up and feeling his best—capturing moments of confidence, joy, and self-expression.
Jullian played basketball on a team called the Heats. He was quick on his feet and skilled at stealing the ball, even if the shot didn’t always fall. His ability to laugh at himself and keep the game lighthearted made him all the more endearing.
He enjoyed dining out but treasured home-cooked meals above all else. Known for refusing leftovers and happily embracing the comforts of being lovingly spoiled, he truly lived up to his affectionate nickname, Juju Bear.
Jullian leaves to cherish his memory his loving grandmother, Carrie Hughes; his devoted wife, Destinine, whom he lovingly called Diane; his siblings, Jovan Hughes, Stanley Hayes, Lucky Hayes, Faith Hughes, and Vanessa Holden; his aunt Hope and uncle Dornell; his uncle David and aunt Renee; his cousins Nikedra, Demonte, and Raianna Hughes, Harmonie, and Haley Carr, along with extended family and many dear friends who will forever hold him in their hearts. He was preceded in death by his mother, Billie Hughes; his grandfather, Lee Hughes; and his aunt, Lutie Ann.
Though we grieve his passing, we rejoice in knowing that Jullian’s life was filled with love, laughter, and faith—and that his spirit lives on in every life he touched.
