

In loving memory of Loren “Bud” Kenefick who passed peacefully on November 21, 2023 in Moreno Valley, California. Bud was born in Rio, Wisconsin on October 5, 1932 to John and Sylvia Kenefick. He graduated from Rio High School in 1950 and from the University of Wisconsin – Madison in 1956 with a degree in Agronomy. The following year he married Carol Wenzel and they remained married until Carol passed away in 2000. During their marriage they lived in Nebraska, Texas, Guam, Arkansas and California. In 2003, Bud married Dorothy “Jay” Peri and they remained together for nearly 20 years until she passed away in June 2023.
Bud was a 28-year veteran of the United States Air Force retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. He was Navigator on B-52 aircraft and an operations officer and served multiple missions in Europe and Asia. After retiring from the military, Bud worked as a mortgage loan officer before fully retiring.
In every city where he lived, Bud was an active member of his church community. In Moreno Valley, he was an active member of Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church for 40 years, serving as President, Treasurer and as an Elder of the church. He is fondly remembered as a mentor of the church acolytes for a number of years.
Bud is survived by two daughters, Lisa Boudrey and Toni Harrigan (Steve), his son, Eric Kenefick, his granddaughters, Jessica Brown (Bobby) and Rebecca Celestine (Shavonte), and one great granddaughter, Zhara Celestine and one sister, Carol DeMeo (Paul) and multiple nieces and nephews. He is also survived by many members of Jay’s family, including her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church on January 12, 2024 at 1030 am, followed by inurnment at the Riverside National Cemetery at 1 pm.
