We bid farewell to our father, Papa Bear, brother, friend, Wayne Eady Jr. Surrounded by loved ones, with his children holding each hand. He departed this world, to be with Jesus on Sunday, November 3, 2024, at the age of 66.
Wayne was born in January of 1958 to his parents, Wayne Eady Sr., a retired Air Force Veteran and Patsy Thomason, a Registered Nurse. Raised briefly in Los Angeles, then spent much of his childhood in Porterville, CA, with his sisters, Teresa, Tammy, and Annette.
Wayne enlisted in the Navy in 1975 a week after his 16th birthday, he then inter-service transferred into the Air Force two years later working as a Cryptographer, Security Specialist and Military Policeman until he retired from the military in September of 1986. Serving in the armed forces and traveling the world was something Wayne was very proud of.
Wayne met his future wife, Maria, while stationed in the Philippines in the summer of 1977. They married in 1979 and had two children, Christine born 1981, and Steven born 1984.
After retiring from the military Wayne worked at Dreyer's Ice Cream as an Ice Cream Machine Operator and was known in the neighborhood as the ice cream man and spoiling his kids' friends and classrooms with the best ice cream parties.
Wayne loved baseball and everything Los Angeles Dodgers, he spent many years coaching his sons little league teams. He was an adept tutor for his children, friends, and college classmates in math and science, and could speak in-depth of the universe, the military, and anything aviation.
Wayne was a man of immense love and thoughtfulness, always looking for a way to serve, give or show kindness to someone in need. He loved to gather everyone to share in a meal with his recipes. He fed his award-winning chili to help feed over 2000 first responders and people in need during a charity event at Santa Barbara City college during the Thomas fire in 2018.
Wayne adored being a grandfather, he enjoyed sharing photos and stories of his grandchildren to whoever would listen. To them he was Papa Bear, a real-life teddy bear.
He was so accepting and was known to take people under his wing. He was compassionate, caring, attentive, and witty. If you were around Wayne, you were guaranteed to laugh or become intrigued by his stories and jokes.
Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Patsy.
