

Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until Celebration of Life at 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church 113 Federal Ave. Morgan City, LA 70380.Burial will follow in the Morgan City Cemetery.
On the peaceful morning, Geraldine Morse received her invitation to go home to be with the Lord. Her Soul winged its flight from this world of sin, sorrow and pain into a place of eternal rest.
Geraldine Jones Morse was the 6th child of eight children that was born in Morgan City, Louisiana on July 4, 1936, to the late Bernie Jones, Sr. and Rosalie Johnson Jones. On February 13, 2026, she was called home to be with the Lord, leaving behind a legacy that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Geraldine Morse is survived by her seven children: Debra (Keith) Baker of Benton, Louisiana. Howard (Melba) Morse III of Lafayette, Louisiana, Kenneth (Traci) Morse of Charlotte, North Carolina, Leslie (Herman) Roberson of Port Allen, Louisiana, Shantell (Lonnie) Kinchen of Morgan City, Louisiana, Shairee (Jovian) Jones of Morgan City, Louisiana, and Corey (Monique) Morse of Morgan City, Louisiana; one beloved brother, Clarence Jones, Sr. of Morgan City, Louisiana; one beloved maternal sister, Mary Jones of Morgan City, Louisiana; two sisters-in-law, Brenda Morse and Beverly Morse. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Kierrah Roberson, Dallas Morse, Meya Morse, Lonnie Kinchen, Howard Kinchen, Destiny Jones, Madison Jones, Nyla Morse, Wesley Williams, Christopher Carbins Jr, Ashley Baker, Amber Baker, LaTeia Morse Warthen, Shayla Morse Scott, Timothy Freeman, Terrance Living, Sierra Morse, Kendrick Morse, Jasmine Morse, Trey Brown-Morse and many great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Lastly, her four Godchildren; Tracey Wilson, Tanisha Wilkerson, Louis Leonard, and Chuntel Carbins.
Geraldine Morse was baptized at an early age, where she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior.
She was the strength of her family. A devoted mother, a cherished grandmother, trusted sister, and loyal friend. Her presence brought comfort to many.
This devoted church woman served 20 years as the First Lady to the late Pastor Howard Bruno Morse within the Eighth Episcopal District. She served as the First Lady of Little Rock A.M.E. Church in Houma, Louisiana, St. James A.M.E Church in Franklin, Louisiana and Zion Chapel A.M.E. Church in Patterson, Louisiana. Geraldine Morse was also the co-founder and First Lady of Christ Temple Full Gospel Church in Bayou Vista, Louisiana.
To know Geraldine, also known as Momma Gee to many, is to love her. She was known for her honesty and straight forward nature. She had the ability to make you laugh right after giving you the realest advice you didn’t ask for but definitely needed. She was a woman who sacrificed a lot for her family and grandchildren. She found joy in life’s simplest moments, especially time spent with family. Family was everything to her and her words were solid as a rock. If she said it, she meant it. Her phrases were “It is hard, but it is fair…. Never give up, Never Give in…. Keep your mouth and don’t block your blessings…. When your weak, your beat….and Do things decent and in order.”
