

Kathryn was born on January 24, 1926 in Lakota, North Dakota, daughter of the late Elizabeth and Peter Pogatshnik. Kathryn attended Lakota High School and was a graduate of the Sisters of St. Joseph School of Nursing in Fargo, North Dakota.
Kathryn boarded a train and moved to the sunny climate of California on her own in 1951 where she was employed at Watsonville Community Hospital as a surgical nurse. She met her husband, Ernest, in Carmel and they were married in 1953. They lived in San Jose where she worked as a nurse at O’ Conner Hospital. In 1957 Kathryn and Ernest moved to Morgan Hill where they raised their family. Kathryn was a member of the Morgan Hill community for 57 years.
Kathryn lived life to the fullest and was always giving of her time to others. She was an active member of the community and gave her time to several organizations including the Red Cross, The American Cancer Society, St. Catherine Catholic Church, St. Vincent’s Society, Children’s Home Society, the Live Oak Band Boosters, Women In Touch, and the Morgan Hill Library.
She was awarded the Morgan Hill Citizen of the Year in recognition of her volunteer activities and community impact. Kathryn always enjoyed being around her friends and family. In addition to all her community work, she loved to cook for others and played bridge with her friends on a weekly basis.
Kathryn is survived by her husband Ernest Rusconi, children Mark (Sue) and Susan (Garrett), and grandsons Remy, Grant and Michael. She is also survived by her brother Bill Pogatshnik.
Friends and family are invited to attend a Vigil Service Friday, July 11, 2014 at 7:00pm at Johnson Funeral Home, 17720 Monterey Rd, Morgan Hill. The Funeral Mass will be Saturday, July 12, 2014 at 10am at St. Catherine Catholic Church, 17400 Peak Ave, Morgan Hill.
