

Annie Johnson Corpening, 64, of Morganton, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, July 9, 2010, while in the care of Burke Hospice and Palliative Care Center, surrounded by her loved ones. Born March 29, 1946, In Burke County, she was a daughter of the late Lee Roy William Johnson and Ruby Dula Johnson. In addition to her parents, Ms. Corpening was also preceded in death by her son, Randy Lee Corpening. Ms. Corpening was an active member of the Hartland Church of God for five years. Being a Child of God, giving Him praise and honor to her Lord and Savior, she worked through various Churches, serving as a member of the Usher Board, a Choir Director and on Kitchen Duty in the Y.P.D.. Ms. Corpening retired from Broughton Hospital after 25 years service. She also served on the S.E.A.N.C. District 6 Board as Group Buying Co-Chairperson.
Ms. Corpening leaves behind to cherish her memory, her son, Lee Roy Corpening, Jr., of Lenoir; Two daughters, Marice Johnson, of Morganton and Edith Corpening, of Hickory; Two brothers, Clarence Johnson and James Johnson, both of Morganton; Her sister, Pricilla Davenport, of Lenoir; Seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews will also cherish her memory.
Funeral Services for Ms. Corpening will be held 2:00 PM, Tuesday, July 13, 2010, at the Hartland Church of God with the Reverend Renee Shade officiating. Interment will follow at the Hartland Church of God Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the Services at the Church. The family will gather at all other times at the residence, 3405 Piney Road, Morganton.
