Betty Jane Morrow Calloway, 87, passed away peacefully, on Thursday, November 23, 2017, at Burke Hospice and Palliative Care in Valdese, NC.

Mrs. Calloway was born in Burke Co., NC on September 20, 1930, to the late Henry Morrow and Alice Phillips.

She was a member of Mt. Home Baptist Church in Morganton and was a retired nurse. Mrs. Calloway loved to listen to gospel music, enjoyed gardening, cooking, traveling, and puzzles. She also liked to crochet and make crafts. Her most favorite thing to do was show off her family photos. She was a very proud mother and grandmother. She loved her family dearly and cherished her friends and neighbors at The Willows. Mrs. Calloway was a wonderful person with a sassy and fun-loving personality. She will be missed so much by all who loved her.

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Calloway, Sr.; a son, Roger Calloway; three sisters, Ethel, Margaret, and Blanche; three brothers, Henry, Jim, and Phillip; and a son-in-law, Dan Yoder.

Surviving Mrs. Calloway are her son, Clyde Calloway, Jr., and his wife Dorina; a daughter, Linda Yoder; two sisters, Jo Baird and Myrtle Huss; four grandchildren, Andrew and Amy Calloway, and Stephanie Jane Nieft and her husband, Brian, and Jennifer Yoder; two great-grandchildren, Daniel and Miles Nieft.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 28, 2017, at 5:00 PM, at Kirksey Funeral Home in Morganton. A Celebration of Life to honor Mrs. Calloway, will begin at 6:00 PM following the visitation. Pastors Jerry Gamble and David Orders will be officiating.
