Claude was born the son of the late John Brently Lucas and Helen Lucinda Hayes Lucas on October 30, 1933 in Clay County, Indiana. He attended Missionary Ridge Baptist Church. Claude served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
Along with his parents, Claude is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty Yvonne Clark Lucas; a son-in-law, Gary Austin; a brother Don Richard Lucas; and many other family members.
Those left behind to cherish Claude's memory include two daughters, Nova Petty (Anthony) of Ringgold, Georgia and Claudia Austin of Morganton; four grandchildren, Lucas and Josh Petty, Amanda Harris and Heather Austin; and two sisters, Betty Jo Brooking (Jerry) of Lexington, Kentucky and Nancy Tranovich (John) of Tennessee.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
