

On Monday, September 2, 2024, Rev. Deborah Ann Avery Caldwell was called from her labor to reward, and it just happened to be Labor Day. She celebrated with Jesus and all her loved ones. She was born March 7, 1956, to her mother Annette who later married Thomas Moore who became a great father.
She was a lifetime member of Willow Tree A.M.E. Church and began attending at an early age. Deborah attended Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. Rev. Deborah was presented her license to preach as a Local Deacon in the Eastern District Quarterly Conference by Presiding Elder Benjamin Foust. She served on the Ministerial Staff as Associate Pastor of Willow Tree Church and preached the word of God with such power and anointing. She inspired every congregation with testimonies and a plea for all to be saved. She was a member of the Inspirational, Gospel and Senior Choirs. She was a member of the Eastern District Quarterly Conference and a member of WIM (Women in Ministry) 2nd District Western North Carolina Conference. She preached the word of God at many churches throughout the community. She preached Annual Missionary Day Sermons, Revivals, Homecomings, Women’s Day sermons and wherever the Lord called her to serve. She sang with the Voices of Faith, the Prayer Team of St. James Holiness Church, the Chosen 5 and was a loyal and dedicated member of the Burke County Prayer Band where she praised God through song and witnessing. She served the people of God and those who didn’t know him. She fed the hungry with spiritual food and food to nourish their bodies through her many different ministries. She spent countless hours each week running errands, cooking and delivering meals and sharing the good news.
Rev. Deborah was preceded in death by her husband, Randall Warren Caldwell, in 2021, her parents Annette and Tom Moore and brothers Greg Avery and Terry Moore. Left to cherish her memories are brothers Leroy Moore and Ronald Moore of Morganton, daughters Cherrica A. Coffey of Morganton, and Angela D Cooper (Tim) of Greensboro, North Carolina, six grandchildren, Dayche Avery, Kyla Avery (Prince) Kameron Avery, Timothy Cooper Jr., Kayanna Cooper, and Taniyah Cooper, two great grandchildren, Arianne and Azya-Jene, and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 7 2024 at the Willow Tree A.M.E. Church with funeral services following at 2:00 pm. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
