

Mr. Hoyle Franklin Queen, 87, of Morganton, went home to be with the Lord, Monday, November 29, 2010, while at the Charles George V.A. Medical Center, Asheville. Born November 21, 1923, in Rutherford County, he was a son of the late Glenn Queen and Dorothy Blanton Clark. In addition to his parents, Mr. Queen was also preceded in death by a son, Dennis Lee Queen, a great granddaughter, Allie Queen and a brother, Lionel Queen. Mr. Queen was a member of the Asheville Street Baptist Church, Morganton. Mr. Queen was a US Veteran of the US Army having served in the South Pacific Theater.
Mr. Queen leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 60 years, Doris Farris Queen, of the home; A son, Glenn “Butch” Queen & wife, Regina, of Petersburg, VA; A daughter, Denise Carswell & husband, Mike, of Morganton; A brother, Lloyd Clark & wife, Betty, of Kings Mountain, NC; A sister, Janice Bell, of Kings Mountain, NC; four grandchildren, Jeremiah McGalliard, of the home, Christopher Queen & Jacob Queen, both of Petersburg, VA and one granddaughter; Several great grandchildren will also cherish his memory.
Funeral Services for Mr. Queen will be held Graveside, 2:00 PM, Friday, December 3, 2010, at the Calvin Heights Baptist Church Cemetery, Morganton with the Reverend Doug Goforth officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the US Army. The family will receive friends 12:30 PM – 1:30 PM, Friday, December 3, 2010, at Kirksey Funeral Home, Morganton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mr. Queen’s memory to the Hospice Fund, Charles George
