John Selby Hawk

Mr. John Selby Hawk, 74, of Morganton, went to be with the Lord, Monday, November 25, 2013, while at his residence. Born December 11, 1938, in Franklin, GA, he was a son of the late Harold Hawk and Thelma Nutt Hawk. In addition to his parents Mr. Hawk was also preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Joyce Gordon. Mr. Hawk was a member of the Mount Home Baptist Church, Morganton. He served in the NC Forest Service for over 40 years. In his spare time, Mr. Hawk enjoyed refinishing furniture. He was very close to his grandchildren and enjoyed talking to them often.

Mr. Hawks’s memory will be cherished by his son, Jon Selby Hawk, of Macon, GA;

a daughter, Margaret Elizabeth Hawk, of Morganton;

a brother, Randy Davis Hawk, of Statesboro, GA;

Two grandchildren, Reynolds and Anna-Elisabeth Hawk will also cherish his memory.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, November 30, 2013, at the Mount Home Baptist Church with Pastor Jerry Gamble officiating. Interment will follow at the Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mount Home Baptist Church Children’s Ministry, c/o 2272 Mount Home Baptist Church, Morganton, NC 28655.
