

Joseph Vinson answered the call of the Lord on Sunday, October 31, 2021 while at UNC Health Blue Ridge. Joe, known to all who loved him, was born June 5, 1925 in Putnam County, Georgia, to the late Holsey and Lena Vinson.
He attended school in Cleveland County, North Carolina. In addition, to his parents, four brothers and one sister preceded in his death.
As a faithful member of Table Rock Baptist Church of Morganton, Joe served wherever he saw a need. He retired from employment with Waldensian Bakery after forty-one years of service missing only two days of work during his tenure. One day of absence was due to snow and the other day was due to illness. He also worked at Brinkley Insurance for more than fifty years. He was devoted mason and a member of Cloverhill Masonic Lodge #10.
In addition to his parents, and siblings Joseph was preceded in death by his wife, Vermel Vinson.
He leaves a loving family cherishing memories to includes his daughters Carolyn (Percy) Mack of Columbia, South Carolina; Joann (Waverly) Martin of Greensboro, North Carolina; Sylvia (Ronald) Bailey of Charleston, South Carolina; his son, Rev. Walter (Belinda) Vinson, Morganton, North Carolina; special nephew, Lester (Geraldine) Vinson; eight grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and a circle of friends who will miss his wit and humor.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at Table Rock Baptist Church 1845 Harmon Rd. Morganton, NC 28655. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the church, burial will follow in the church cemetery. Bishop A. A. Lee Officiating.
The Vinson Family has entrusted arrangements to Kirksey Funeral Home of Morganton with arrangements.
