Mrs. Kate Lee Carswell, age 81, of Morganton, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 16, 2017. Kate was born the daughter of the late Henry Watts and Sara Jane Smith Watts on September 18, 1935 in Cleveland County, NC.
Kate was a long time member of Carswell Memorial Baptist Church. Over the years, she assisted the sick as a caretaker and friend. Kate was a humble and kindhearted person. She will be missed.
Along with her parents, Kate is preceded in death by a sister, Annie Muriel Hudson.
Those left behind to cherish Kate’s memory include her husband of 58 years, Rev. Ted Carswell, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, February 20, 2017 in the Chapel of Kirksey Funeral Home. The Reverends Isaac Propst, Jerry Hudson and Billy Mace will officiate. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Burke Memorial Park.
