Obituary of Kevin Scott Barker

Kirksey Funeral Home

Kevin Scott Barker entered into his journey of life on Saturday, April 23rd, 1966 to the late Bill Barker and Ruby Owensby Barker. He sadly departed our lives to continue his journey in Heaven on Monday, October 12th, 2020. Anyone who was acquainted with Kevin knew he was a caring, compassionate, humorous, thoughtful and extremely giving soul. He always provided for the needs of others before himself. We were truly blessed being a part of Kevin’s life. Kevin was the spouse, friend, parent and partner in life to Robert D Woodell for over 24 years. His seven children (“Rays of Sunshine”) that remain to continue his legacy include Kristy Woodell, Jessica W Strange, Ashley W Surratt, Ronnie Medford, Jasmin Barker, Danna Barker and Jalen Barker; Kevin’s five grandchildren (“Pots of Gold at the End of the Rainbow) include Kaymen Surratt, Aaliah Surratt, Parker and Peyton Medford, and Nala Michaels; three brothers, Mike, Ricky and Tim Barker; a sister, Loretta Medford. Also grieving Kevin’s loss include numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and countless friends. As we are forced to remain here without Kevin’s physical presents, we will continue to share all gifts he has left behind. The love for you, and the permeant imprint of your memories on our hearts and minds will follow with us continuously throughout our journey on Earth. Until we meet again! Special thanks to all our family and friends for sharing the love, joys, struggles, hurt and pain with our family. Thank You! A "Celebration of Kevin's Life" will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 17, 2020 in the Chapel of Kirksey Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmie "JR" Richards officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Kirksey Funeral Home of Morganton has the honor of serving the family.
