Marilyn Grace Gwyn Hicks

Marilyn was born the daughter of William Gwyn and Jennie Fox Gwyn on March 17th 1949 in Avery County.

Marilyn was a longtime member of Missionary Ridge Baptist Church where she was dedicated to serving the Lord and working with small children. She was a retired Dietary Supervisor working at Broughton Hospital for over 30 years. Marilyn loved spending time with her grandchildren and she had a passion for gardening. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Marilyn will be greatly missed.

Preceding Marilyn in death is her father, William Gwyn, a brother, Roy Gwyn and her father-in-law Junior Hicks.

Those left behind to cherish her memory include her mother, Jennie Gwyn of Morganton; her husband of 40 years, Dale Hicks of the home; her daughter Jeneen Hicks Radford of Morganton; four brothers, Glen Gwyn and his wife, Kathy of Lexington; David Gwyn and his wife, Ramona of Morganton; Rev. Bruce Gwyn and his wife, Debbie of Monroe and Michael Gwyn of Morganton; two sisters, Phyllis Noble and Margie Edwards and her husband, Tim both of Morganton; three grandchildren, Makayla, Braylee and Will Radford; and a special friend of 26 years Carolyn Thackston. Also surviving are numerous other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 P.M. on Wednesday, March 2nd 2011at Missionary Ridge Baptist Church with the Rev. Donald Lovelace and Rev. Al Tinnin officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church’s L.E.C. at Missionary Ridge Baptist Church.
