Mildred Luzine Abee

Mildred L. Abee, age 92, passed from her earthly home to her eternal home on Sunday, January 21, 2024 at her home after a period of declining health. Mildred was born in Valdese, NC on November 23, 1931 to the late Elizabeth Louise Abee.

Mildred was valedictorian of the 1950 graduating class at Valdese High School. She subsequently worked in administration for Waldensian Bakery her entire career. Mildred faithfully attended Mount Calvary Baptist Church, serving as Office Secretary, until she became homebound.

The true joy and love of Mildred’s life was her family. She is survived by her brother, Charles Edward Abee, his wife, Hannah Francis Abee, and her cousin, Joann Keever Bollinger. Although she had no children of her own, she treated her niece, Beth Griffin (Husband Michael Griffin), and her nephew, Mark Abee (Wife Brooke Abee), as if they were her own. Also surviving are Mildred’s great nieces and nephews, Jake Griffin, Sarah Griffin, Abbey Griffin, Keever Abee and Summey Abee. Mildred’s love for her family will always be her legacy.

Mildred’s family would like to give a special thank you to her caregiver and friend Judie Wright. Words cannot express our gratitude for the care and attention you gave Mildred during this time.

Mildred will be laid to rest privately at Burke Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a donation to Mount Calvary Baptist Church.
