Ms. Omelia Connelly Armstrong, who was loved by all, departed her loving family on May 12, 2023. Omelia was born in Burke County on April 12, 1939 to the late Elliott & Myrtle Connelly.
Mickey was mother to Perry, Ann and Charles. She raised her children with love and devotion in Morganton, NC with dignity and respect.
As a processor for many years with Breeden Farms Manufacturing, momma was known for her smile, wit, kindness and selfless service. She was a faithful servant of the Lord with profound dedication to her church New Bethel and the community where she had no shame in sharing the word of God.
Omelia embodied strength that was bonded in God. We often say, "You Don't Look Like What You Been Through". Experiencing vilomah in grief for her daughter "Ann" Sunset May 15, 2021 and her son, Charles (Squeaky) Sunset September 23, 2022 within one year, four months and eight days between them, one would question God, but not Mickey, she stood on the solid rock of Faith that God makes no mistakes.
Her hobbies included crossword puzzles, walking, singing, shopping at Roses, TJ Maxx, Ross’ and Walmart. If you had gas, she was in the car.
Those left to cherish her memories are her loving son, Perry Connelly and his wife, Lakita; a daughter-in-law, Lolita Armstrong and her deceased husband, Charles; a son-in-law, Stephen Banner and his deceased wife, Ann; four sisters, Helen Fullwood, Hester Connelly, Ophelia Harshaw and Mary Hunt; 10 grandchildren; Travis Shuford, Rashita Connelly, Ra'Jae “RJ” Sudberry, Shetayga “Tay” Cline, Lee Manny, Alyssa Ingram, Ja’Merion “Jay” Banner, Sheenie Scott, Nenishia Scott and Rosalynn Moore; 17 great-grandchildren, Caleb and Kayla Cline, Eli Jones, Malaysia, Carson and Nathan Dearring, Nyree , Cameron, Keylan, Broylan, Ava Mackey, Mylen Winters and Davonte Scott with his fiancé, Piper Parker, Dorrean, Ahmariah and Shilah Moore and Donte McElrath; and one great-great grandchild, Gianna Scott.
