She was born on June 5, 1960 in St Louis, MO to Patricia and Norbert Kirchoff and is survived by three brothers, Ron, David, Dennis, and two sisters, Lisa and Michelle along with her mother Patricia.
Raised Catholic and staying strong to her faith, she attended the Cor Jesu Academy, then onto St Louis University, where she attended college on a softball scholarship. Patti then attended medical school, residency, and fellowship at St Louis University. Always the overachiever, she was board certified in Pediatrics, Internal Medicine and Allergy and Immunology.
Patti moved to Morganton, NC in 1995 where she practiced Allergy and Asthma for Allergy Partners in the surrounding area. Her passion was healing and improving the lives of the people in the area, which she did for 30 years until her retirement in 2019. In addition to her work, she was involved in the formation of a Dragon Boat team of fellow cancer survivors which competed in races nationally and held a festival for cancer support at Lake James. She will be missed by the many lives she impacted. She remained devoted to athletic endeavors including running cycling and encouraged others to do the same, most notably coaching a local girl’s softball team. Always active her other hobbies included quilting, bee keeping and playing board games with her family.
She is also survived by her husband of 34 years, David, and children, Brett and Diana and stepdaughter Christina and her family. She will be forever missed by her family and friends.
She remained strong to her faith and attended St. Charles Borromeo Catholic church in Morganton where she will be laid to rest.
A celebration of her life will happen at a later time at her favorite place on earth, the home on Lake James she shared with her family for almost 30 years.
