

Mr. Paul B.E. Woody, 85, of Morganton, passed away peacefully at his residence Wednesday, April 2, 2014, following a period of declining health. He was born May 17, 1928, in Yancey County to the late Grayson W. Woody and Florence Gardner Woody. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Clontz Small Woody and daughter, Deborah Woody Vail, five brothers, Frank, Howard, James, Wintford and Wilford Woody: Five sisters, Dorothy Taylor, Flaude Davis, Delpha Elliott and Marjory Grindstaff.
Mr. Woody was a member of the North Morganton Baptist Church where he had served as a Deacon and an R.A. Leader. He was a life-long brother of the Catawba Valley Masonic Lodge. He retired from Drexel Heritage Furniture and he enjoyed the out-doors immensely and all it had to offer, fishing, hunting, hiking, 4-wheeling and even after his retirement, by developing a Shrubbery business.
Mr. Woody is survived by two sons, Paul Brian Woody, of Fayetteville, NC and Mark Woody, of Morganton;
A great-grandson, Jacob Herman, of the home;
A son-in-law, Mike Vail, of Morganton;
Two granddaughters, Lisa Herman Davis and husband Tommy, and Lori Callahan Hawkins and husband Chris, all of Morganton;
Also surviving him is a sister, Venus Mull, of Morganton.
Funeral Services will be held 3:00 PM, Sunday, April 6, 2014, in the Chapel of Kirksey Funeral Home, Morganton, with Reverend Jim Taber officiating. Interment will follow at the Forest Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in Mr. Woody’s memory to Camp Dixie, 373 Bladen Union Church Road, Fayetteville, NC 28306.
