Robert Franklin Young

March 8, 1935 - January 7, 2026

Robert Franklin Young, 90, passed away on January7, 2026. Born on March 8, 1935, in Huntington,Indiana, he was the son of the late Ralph and Mary(Eckert) Young.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marsha Ann Young; his sons

Mark (Megan) Young of Morganton, Robert A.(Diana) Young of Charlotte,and Ryan Young of Hickory; and his grandsons Matthew

Young of Morganton; Mitchell (Julia) Young of New York, New York; Madison Young of Columbia, South Carolina; and Riley and Bryce Young of Simi Valley, California.

Robert was born and raised in Huntington, Indiana, and worked for Dana Corporation in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served in Germany. He earned an Associate of Applied Science in Engineering Technology from Purdue University Fort Wayne. When Dana Corporation expanded operations to Morganton, North Carolina, Robert and his family relocated there.

He was a devoted member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister and participated on several church committees. Robert was also an active member of the Morganton chapter of AARP, an usher for the City of Morganton Municipal Auditorium (CoMMA), and an avid golfer.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his brother Michael Young and his infant son, Roy Anthony Young.

Robert and his wife enjoyed traveling together and were proud to have visited all 50 states, as well as many countries throughout Europe.

A Celebration of Life Mass will be held at 11 :00 a.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. An informal visitation with refreshments will follow in the church fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 728 W. Union Street, Morganton, NC 28655.
