She was the widow of John Wilbur Dula, Sr., she went home to rest in the arms of Jesus Saturday, October 09, 2021 at her residence.
She was a gradate of Lincoln Heights School in Wilkes County and chose a career in Health Care. Her greatest joy in life was fulfilling her Evangelistic calling and being a mother. Her ministry began as a child she often spoke of how her father would preach and then ask her to sing. Her singing ministry blossomed when she began singing solos at First Assembly of God Church in Drexel. Years later, she joined Hoods Chapel UCOG in Lenoir. She sung in the choir, taught Sunday School, and became a licensed minister. It didn't realize her ministry reached far beyond the four walls of the church. She spoke at prisons, created hands of love that distributed care packages throughout Burke, Caldwell, and Wilkes counties. She wrote tributes for loved ones who had passed away, volunteered at Lenoir Healthcare played the piano and many other acts of kindness.
In addition to her parents, and husband, Thelma was preceded in death by her daughter, Vinita Michelle Dula, brothers; James Everitt Saner, Charles Saner, Vernon Carlton, Jesse Carlton, Lester Carlton, Lloyd Carlton, Thomas Wray Carlton, Sanford Carlton, and William Carlton, sisters; Alene Saner Davenport, Minnie Saner Patterson, Rosalee Saner, Dula, Mattie Carlton, Barnes, Beatrice Carlton, Hattie Mae Carlton Barnes, and Sarah Carlton.
Those left to cherish her memories is her children; Monica Dula of Morganton, Angela Dula Dioum of Greensboro, Patrice Dula (Aaron), and Margaret Dula both of Morganton, John Wilbur Dula, Jr., of Wilkesboro, and Edward Dula of Morganton, sister; Jewel Maxine (Polly) along with 7 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren a spiritual sister, Virginia Hood of Lenoir, along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. in the chapel of Kirksey Funeral Home of Morganton, the family will receive friends one hour prior to service time 12:00-12:55 p.m. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.
