William Anthony “Buster” Caldwell, age 56, of Morganton, NC went to be with the Lord, on Friday, February 24, 2017, at CMC Blue Ridge Hospital in Morganton, NC.
Mr. Caldwell was born on July 22, 1960, in Burke Co., NC, to Laura Caldwell Peterson and the late Troy William Johnson. He was a member of New Hope In Christ Baptist Church in Morganton. He worked as a maintenance supervisor for many years at Club Chef in Cinncinnati, Ohio.
Mr. Caldwell was a hard worker and a dedicated family man. He loved his family and they loved him too and called him “Big Poppa”. He was known for his great sense of humor and he always loved teasing and joking around and pulling pranks on his family and friends.
He was also a great cook and enjoyed watching NASCAR. Dale Earnhardt, Jr. was his favorite NASCAR driver. Mr. Caldwell may have had a tough exterior, but to all who really knew him, he was a soft, teddy bear on the inside. He will be truly missed.
In addition to his father, Mr. Caldwell was also preceded in death by his brother, Tony Rodney Johnson; his grandmother, Mabel Caldwell and a nephew, Troy Johnson, Jr.
Surviving Mr. Caldwell are his wife, Thisbee Calvin-Caldwell, of Belle Glade, FL; his mother, Laura Caldwell Peterson, of Morganton; his sons, William Anthony Caldwell, III, Devante Caldwell, Sirr Johnson Caldwell, and Anthony Burgess, all of Morganton; daughters, Ashley Caldwell and Alize Caldwell, both of Morganton; brothers, Troy (Patricia) Johnson and Colon (Fracia) Hayes, both of Statesville, NC, Wesley Hayes of Asheville, NC and Quincy Johnson, of Cinncinnati, OH; sisters, Donna Peterson, of Louisville, KY, Tonya Johnson of TX, Crystal Johnson of Morganton, NC and Selena Jamison, of Charlotte, NC; a grandfather, Charles Bristol; step-sons, Ambrose Calvin, of Belle Glade, FL, and Adonis Rutherford, of Hickory, NC; a step-daughter, Amber Calvin, of Cinncinnati, OH and a step-mother, Mamie Johnson, of Morganton NC; a step-brother, Chip Early of Kannapolis, NC;14 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service to celebrate the life of William Anthony Caldwell will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 3:00 PM, at New Hope In Christ Baptist Church, in Morganton, NC with Pastor Max Bristol officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:30 PM to 3:00 PM on Saturday, March 4, 2017.
