

Eunice “Mae” Welch, 86, of Morristown, went to be with her Lord & Savior on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at Charter Senior Living. Her life was marked by steady devotion to those she loved and a faithful spirit that guided her days. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family knew her as a constant presence—one who gave of herself with quiet strength, dependable care, and enduring love. A more than 50-year member of Calvue Missionary Baptist Church, she lived her faith in consistent service. She proudly taught Sunday school, participated as a WMU member, and contributed to many projects and committees, offering her time and heart with humility and purpose.
Eunice was preceded in death by her father, Grover E. Poteet; her mother, Cleo Mayes Poteet; her husband, Bruce Welch; her brother, Leon Poteet; sister-in-law, Alma Collette; and her brothers-in-law, Dan Welch, Larry Welch, and Randall Welch.
She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca “Becky” Marsh; her granddaughter, Brittany Tener (Joshua); her great grandson, Elijah Tener; her brothers, Arnold Poteet and Tom Poteet; her brother-in-law, Harold Welch (Maxine); her sisters, Lucille Pitman (Roy) and Brenda Mundy (Gary); her sister-in-law, Wilma Sumpter; special family member, Kathy Wilmeth; and several nieces and nephews.
The family extends special thanks to the in house caregivers, Gentiva Hospice, and Charter Senior Living for the exceptional care that was given.
Receiving of Friends will be Thursday, May 28, 2026, from 5:00PM-7:00PM at Calvue Missionary Baptist Church with the funeral to follow at 7:00PM. A graveside service will be at Hamblen Memory Gardens on Friday, May 29, 2026, at 11:00AM. Officiating the services will be Rev. Travis Bowden, Rev. Terry Winstead and Rev. Gary Mundy, her nephews will be serving as pallbearers.
