

Kenneth Van Fisher, age 85, of Knoxville, passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at Beverly Park Place. He was born and raised in Whitesburg. He was a descendant of Rev Captain Tidence Fuller Lane Sr, also Richard White, whom Whitesburg was named. Kenneth was a longtime employee of Mason-Dixon Trucking Company of Kingsport and was known throughout the country by the many friends he made. He was a charter member of Cumberland Baptist Church and Wallace Memorial Church. He was a Korean veteran and served in Germany.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Hazel White Fisher; brother, Clifton Fisher of New York City; father and mother-in-law, James and Ada Hawke Ambrose of Bulls Gap; friends, Rick Fried of New York and best friend, Wayne Kirk of Knoxville.
Survivors include the love of his life, Lois; daughter, Sandra Van; also best friend and much like a daughter, Shannon Hampton; friends, R G and Audrey Jackson of Candler, NC, Mary Kirk, Pat Ensor, and Martha Jones of Knoxville; special nieces, Ama Vinsant, Shirley Kinley, Ann Christian, and Teresa & Larry Cutshaw; and special nephews, Doug and Gail Bowman of Clovis, NM, Charles and Sharon Busler of Knoxville.
A graveside service will be held in Hamblen Memory Gardens in Morristown, on Friday, December 8 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Richard Long officiating. Friends may call at their convenience.
Special thanks to Beverly Park Place for the wonderful care and compassion shown to Ken through his journey. Also to previous facility workers: Shaun, Greg, Chester, Saku, Wilson.
