Lena Evaline Hinch Roach, age 97, of Morristown, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 12, 2019 at her home of 50 years. She was born April 13, 1922 in what is known today as Rocky Top, TN. The family moved to Morristown in 1969. Lena was a devoted wife, mother, homemaker and gardener. In her later years, she enjoyed her puzzles and listening to politics. She was of the Baptist faith.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Howard T Roach; parents, Andrew Jackson and Elizabeth Jane Sharpe Hinch; twin brother, Levi; brothers, Troy “Cotton” Hinch, Odis Ellis “Big Boy” Hinch, William Edward “Ed” Hinch, Charles Donaldson “Charlie” Hinch; sons-in-law, Stanley Dempsey and Michael Driver; grandson, Gary Miles Dempsey; and grandson-in-law, Gregory Steven Holloway.
Survivors include her seven children, Jane Dempsey, Delores Driver, Louella Roach, Linda (Dwight) Rettowski, Charles (Catherine) Roach, Elizabeth (David) Hartman, and Irene Wolfe; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends in the Chapel of Stubblefield Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 p.m. with Chaplain Evelyn McNamara officiating. Interment will follow in Hamblen Memory Gardens.
