

Ronald Glenn “Slick” Mason, age 72, passed away on Monday, January 12, 2015 at his home as a result of lung cancer. He was saved as an adult and a member of Valley View Missionary Baptist Church. He was a former employee of American Enka, and then went on to have a very successful career in construction, specializing in pipe fitting. “Slick” was highly respected in his field, working as a Forman and General Forman throughout the Southeast for over 45 years, mentoring others in his craft. He will be sadly missed by his family and those that worked with him over the years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nora J. Elkins Mason; parents, Eugene Elmer Mason Sr. and Bertha Mae Smith Mason; and infant brother, Benjamin Mason. He is survived by daughters, Malinda Mason of Morristown, and Misty (Shane) Wilson of Bean Station; grandchildren, Evan Mason of Morristown, and Mason and Raean Wilson of Bean Station; brother, Elmer Mason Jr. of Sherrils Ford North Carolina; sisters; Shirley Mae Hayes, of Gadsden Alabama; and Barbara Ann Hagy, of Milton, Florida. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Stubblefield Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. Rev. Tracy Clifford will officiate. Family and friends will meet at Valley View Cemetery on Thursday morning at 10:45 a.m. for an 11:00 a.m. graveside service. Pallbearers will be: Shane Wilson, Jeff Cansler, Wesley Kimbrough, Shane Elkins, Robert Gibson, Mason Wilson, Evan Mason and Ambrose Stuart. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5 – 7:00 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home.
