Sterling accepted Christ as his savior at a young age, he was a member of Grace Baptist Church. After serving his country in the US Marine Corp, (Korean War Veteran), he worked as a Tennessee State Trooper until retirement and continued to work in security for several years after.
Sterling was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. Preceded in death by his parents Edward and Ella Mae Trent, his brothers Aarron, Newman, and Junior Trent, and sister Faye Castle. He is survived by his sons Sterling Trent Jr., Bruce Trent, Benny (Kathy) Trent, Stephen (Liz)Trent, Jason Trent, Christopher Trent, step-daughters LaDonna Mayes and Misty (Tracy) Fawbush. Grandchildren Brandon (Jessica) Trent, Dylan, Brady, Blake, Katlyn, Reece, Jacob, Emma Trent, Dharma and Cainan Fawbush. Great-grand AdaMae Trent.

A Military Graveside Service will be held at 10:00AM, Saturday, March 15, 2025 in the Garden of Devotion at Hamblen Memory Gardens with Rev. James Williams officiating.
