Werner Engelbert Kranz, age 92, of Morristown, passed away at the Heritage Center on Sunday, July 13, 2014. As a child, his father worked in the new technology of telephone systems. He graduated from the University of Breslau and was a paratrooper in the German Air Force. During his last jump, Mr. Kranz was severely injured and woke up in a hospital in America as a prisoner of war. Because of his excellent acheivements during his time as a POW, he was recommended to return to the United States in a career with the US Government. A highlight to his job was being on the security detail for President John F. Kennedy during his visit to the Berlin Wall. He also worked as an investigator for the American Military Police. Mr. Kranz was preceded in death by his wife, Mattris Kranz; parents, Felix and Anastasia Kranz; and sisters, Ingaborg and Adelheit. Mr. Kranz is survived by his children: Juergen Kranz and Grace Kranz; brother, Gunther Kranz; and sister, Helga Keefe. Funeral services will be held at Stubblefield Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at 8:00 p.m. with Father Patrick Brownell officiating. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home on Wednesday morning at 9:30 a.m. for a 10:00 a.m. entombment in the Chapel of Memories. The family will receive friends prior to the services at the funeral home from 6 – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening. Stubblefield Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
