Alfred James Orr, 95, passed away Monday May 13, 2019. He was born on February 5, 1924 in Morton, Wash., to Claud and Jennie (Cooper) Orr. He attended Randle High School and graduated in 1942.
After graduation, he worked for the Forest Service at the fire lookout on Pompey Pike. He joined the Navy in December of 1942. He served as a turret gunner in a TBM Avenger aboard aircraft carrier CV-16 Lexington during WWII. He also served in the Korean War.
Al loved golfing, traveling, and visiting with family and friends. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars since 1949 and the American Legion in Morton since 1990. He was instrumental in securing funds for the Veterans Wall of Honor in Morton, Wash.
Al was preceded in death by his wife Irene Orr and three sisters, Kathleen Scott, Flora Read, and Mary Ann Aust. Al is survived by two brothers, Oliver and Claude Orr.
A graveside service will be held at 1PM, Saturday June 8, 2019 at the Silver Creek Cemetery in Randle, Wash.
