

Charles was born on November 25, 1934 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri to the late Leslie Thomas Melton and Bernice Winingar-Melton and has been a resident of Moss Bluff for the past 52 years. He loved playing his acoustic guitar and singing, fishing, travelling and was also a former Stock Car driver. He will be missed dearly by his family and always be remembered for his nice and caring personality. Charles proudly served our country in the United States Navy. After serving his Navy term, Charles became an over the road truck driver, which he did for over 50 years and was a member of The Teamsters Union.
He has been reunited in Heaven with his loving wife, Marjorie V. Melton; sisters, Barbara Johnson and Faye Chomycia.
Left behind to treasure his loving memory are his children, Shirley Miller and husband Bob and Tina Battles and husband Brian; brother, Louis Melton; sister, Ina Lee Melton-Craft; grandchildren, Alexis Simpson and husband Jim, Anthony and Sarah Miller and Ivan Battles; great grandchildren, Riley and Abby Simpson, Claire, McKenzie, Loclan and Raleigh Milller, Jason Aimes and Leighton Battles.
Visitation will be Thursday, April, 27, 2017 from 11:00am until 1:00pm at Hixson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff. Funeral Services will begin at 1:00pm. Burial will follow at New Ritchie Cemetery. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.hixsonfuneralhomes.com
