

The visitation will be at Hixson Funeral Home in Moss Bluff beginning Tuesday, April 5, at 1 p.m.-8 p.m. Visitation continues Wednesday, April 6, 2011 9am-3pm, a procession will then leave for the 4pm service to be held at St. John's Lutheran Church, 600 University Drive, Lake Charles. A Celebration of Life will immediately follow at the home of Steve Blount in Moss Bluff.
Michael was a sophomore at SHHS in Moss Bluff, La. Michael was very active in school and area events. He was a member of the varsity soccer team, where he often played goalie. He was an Honor Roll student. He participated in the spring soccer select team for Moss Bluff. One word that best described Michael is "awesome"! He was a true inspiration and role model for so many. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. He also was a very talented artist that had a great sense of humor that everyone loved. He will long be remembered as a kind hearted, beautiful human being.
He is survived by his parents, Charlie & Cindy Koppenhagen of Moss Bluff; one brother, Zachary "Zach" and one sister, Samantha "Sami"; His Grandparents, Marianne Koppenhagen of Westlake, & Camilla Pintor of Crystal Lake IL., David & Marilyn (Dolly) Long of Schaumburg, IL; His Aunt & Uncles Tim & Claudia Danek, of Darien, IL, Sherri Harlin of Lake in the Hills IL, David & Dawn Long Jr. of Arlington Heights, IL, Greg & Cicia Long of Glen Ellyn, IL, Patrick & Dana Laughlin of Barrington, IL. and numerous cousins.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Helmut Karl Koppenhagen.
